Medications To Avoid Before Surgery
ASPIRIN
Since aspirin can cause bleeding, it is important to avoid aspirin and medications which contain aspirin for at least 10 days before surgery and for one week after surgery.
Below is a list of common, brand-name prescription and over-the-counter drugs that contain aspirin.

The above is a list of common (but by no means all inclusive) aspirin containing medications.
Over-the-counter supplements, nutritional supplements and herbal and homeopathic medicines, especially FISH OIL and VITAMIN E must be stopped 10 days prior to surgery.

Please notify us immediately if you are currently taking anti-coagulant medication.
Other non-aspirin medications which can cause bleeding and need to be stopped prior to surgery are:
- Ibuprofen - stop 3-5 days prior to surgery
- Motrin - stop 3-5 days prior to surgery
- Advil - stop 3-5 days prior to surgery
- Nuprin - stop 3-5 days prior to surgery
